CLIF / THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IS YOU

Winning the work starts long before the pitch.

01

THE SITUATION

CLIF was a new brand opportunity for DAVID. We were invited into a competitive pitch, and I was brought in to lead the account.

There was no long runway to learn the business. We had to understand the brand fast.

And understand what could make us win even faster.

02

THE TENSION

CLIF already had a strong product story. But product credentials alone wouldn't give us a distinctive place in people's lives.

We needed to find the intersection between what made CLIF different and what actually mattered to the people choosing it.

The answer couldn't just come from the brand. It had to come from the consumer.

03

THE SHIFT

Instead of treating strategy, creative and client management as separate stages, we built the thinking together.

That led us to a powerful consumer insight that gave the right amount of stage to both sides of the equation: the product and the person using it.

04

THE TURNING POINT

Through tissue sessions, working calls and constant iteration, we brought strategy, creative and leadership together around one direction. By pitch day, we weren't presenting an idea we hoped would work. We were presenting one we had already pressure-tested together.

And from there, the idea became clear:

THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IS YOU.

Finding the idea wasn't enough. We needed to make sure everyone believed in it before we entered the room.

05

THE WORK

One consumer truth became the foundation for a new brand platform. THE MOST IMPORTANT INGREDIENT IS YOU.

06

THE ORCHESTRATION

Winning a pitch isn't one big presentation. It's dozens of small decisions made well along the way. BRAND IMMERSION → CONSUMER INSIGHT → TISSUE SESSIONS → CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT → CLIENT ALIGNMENT → PITCH.

The process built confidence before the presentation ever began.

07

THE OUTCOME

WE WON THE BUSINESS

A NEW CLIENT FOR DAVID

A NEW BRAND PLATFORM FOR CLIF

08

WHAT IT PROVED

Great work rarely starts with a presentation. It starts by creating clarity around the right problem.

When strategy, creative and client leadership are connected early, confidence isn't something you manufacture in the room. It's something you bring into it.
